How to Shoot a Basketball (How to play in the Low Post)?

In today's video, Coach Tom explains how to shoot over the defense in the low post using the "Sky Hook" shot! Made popular by the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Lew Alcindor), it has faded from popular use. We want to help bring it back! When used properly, there is almost no way to stop it. You can even use it to shoot over much taller players because if they attempt to block it or get to the ball, they'll probably foul you.

Make sure you've watched the Intro video called "Own the Low Post" so that you have the upper hand on catching the pass in the post and you can also check out the other post moves we've selected as UNSTOPPABLE!

@ShotScience regardless, i dont think you can have a foot on the floor after releasing your pivot, it would be okay if you jumped off both feet at the same time though.

@xcysco33 we get questions like this all the time and we went to the rule book ourselves. You can pull your pivot if you're going up into a shot, passing the ball, or dropping down the dribble.

@MatyouLoyd No contempt intended. just a rebuttal to you comment "THIS IS NOT A SKY HOOK." This video depicts exactly what the Sky Hook is and we will soon provide the video for the Jump Hook which are very different from each other. It's cool!
