@jpheisz i am going to use a corded drill as a motor and 175mm sanding disc. A small sander project which can be mounted to the side of foldable work bench. i couldnt manage to understand how to make a section to bend the table in angles.Oh,not to mention that my budget is only scrap wood and some bolts (=

I've started making something similar now. Do you get much flex on the disc when you apply pressure sanding? I've got a lawnmower motor, but it seems quite fast, but I'll give it a try!

@NickD680 The platter is 5/8" thick so no, it doesn't flex at all. An electric lawnmower motor is probably too fast and pretty noisy as well. Better to find an induction motor, like a furnace blower motor, etc.

how do the sanding discs fix onto the machine?

@NickD680 The disks I'm using are self-adhesive.
