  • Malone beat in 97, 98 and 2004

  • @entringer26 Nope, just in 1998 and 2004 because Duncan was not in the league in the 1996-97 season.

  • isnt that the guy calling all of kobes game winning shots now?

  • @And1AirJordan23 Yeah I think so; isn't that strange? You can't even rely on your sportscasters to be loyal fans LOL!!!

  • @And1AirJordan23 Yeah man, that's Joel Meyers. He was the Spurs' color commentary guy for a while before leaving to LA after the 02-03 season.

It's probably because playoff games are won in the paint and Malone was too busy popping 15-footers ala' Patrick Ewing. He wasn't making stops, wasn't drawing consistent double teams and certainly, I'm convinced, never had the heart of a champion. Jordan might've beaten Duncan too, but you can be damn sure he'd of put up better numbers than Malone did against those teams.

  • @paydog23

Dig even deeper at playoff stats at each player's PER (Player Efficiency Rating), and it's not even close. Duncan's median PER is 25.5 PER over that span, with an eye-popping high of 31.8. Compare that to Malone's median 20.7 PER over the same span, with a personal best of 25.8. Everyone says Malone was a choker, but he really never impacted in the playoffs the way he did in the reg season; certainly not a Duncan's level.

  • @paydog23No doubt the Mailman was -- still is -- a freak specimen of durability. But if you look closer, Duncan in the time span played 170 playoff games to Malone's 117. Playoff games are much tougher, more brutal brand of basketball than the regular season. That no doubt contributes to Duncan's durability, though I can argue he's been pretty steady as the straw that stirs S.A.'s drink for years now.

  • @paydog23 It's really not that complicated -- Karl Malone, even with 4 Defensive Team selections, was never an elite defender. Duncan came on the scene and that was the end of Malone's defensive accolades. In Malone's 20s, a player's prime years, Malone was, at best, a subpar defender. Duncan has been on 14 All-Defensive Teams. The legendary players have been able to anchor a team offensively AND defensively. Even Jordan, Kobe have 10 years of Defensive Team selections. Simple as that.

  • @entringer26 Timmy is not comparable to Stevie, the Big Fundamental is the best PF to play the game.

  • DOn't be a fucking idiot, Multipring. Steve Kerr has 5 rings and Stockton has 0 and still Stockton is one of the best pgs of all time. Its not how many rings you have but what you did for league. Simples as that.

  • @entringer26 Ahh, so you wanna count, eh? Let's count championship rings: Malone: ZER0, Timmy: 4.

  • duncan 4 titles, malone hmmmmm 0 titles rings speaks more than words!
