Gentle Persuasion - Please Mr. Postman (1983)

This Motown classic was a #1 hit for both the Marvelettes (1961) and The Carpenters (1974). Unfortunately, Gentle Persuasion's cover only got as high as #82 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Gentle Persuasion were Leza Holmes, Renne Johnson, & Sharon Williams. They released only one album for Warner Bros. Records in 1978. In the 70's, they released 4 singles; Dynamite Explodes (1973), A Little Bit Of Love (1976), Falling In Love Again (1976), and Litterbug (1978). Please Mr. Postman was their only Hot 100 entry, and this smooth and upbeat sounding cover deserved a better chart fate.
