  • You'll find that William Carlos Williams wrote a poem called "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus" which is far superior to the Auden work.

  • @magiczurawski67 Thanks for the comment. Yes, I like Williams' poem, and I'm not sure why Auden's is so much better known (it seems). Thanks again for stopping by.

  • The most famous poem about a Breughel painting is no doubt Auden's "Musee des Beaux Arts," which refers to "Icarus," but Williams' poem runs a close second.
