why does the security argue with these punks? obviously thats all they live for being annoying. Someone complained that theyre's people harrasing pedestrians you tell them nicely to move along. If they don't to hell with it call police. As a security myself I would have stayed in the truck w/ windows slightly pulled down that way its harder to physically get attacked/invaded those morons kept provoking the seucirty. i understand why he got pissed but he shud have retreated and let police step in

@VoodooPolitico If they don't leave then it's a criminal trespassing and be arrested by a security officer simple as that. Once the person is arrested nobody including the security officer can't release him beside a judge. Effective tactics

so what happened here?

IF they are on PUBLIC PROPERTY, the security guard cant say or do shit. BUT, if the property they are on is PRIVATE property, they DO need to abide by the "rules" of the property, that are enforced by the security guard. Either way, he cant touch them in any way at all. He can only ASK them to leave and then call the police if they refuse.

@auweia1 I'd say the police officer couldn't arrest the individual anyways because of his number on the "grey-scale." LOL

Yeah, I'm sorry I meant to include laws vary state to state. Someone said security has no authority. In California they might now. Sorry.
That's a shame. I would have pressed charges against that nigerian bastard in a heartbeat!

@thepokerclinic
well, part of the reason is he had the video more than a year in the original state, which was too dark to see...It wasn't until he gave the video to me for processing and brightening that you could actually see what was going on...by then it was far too late

A security guard does have arrest powers, the same as a citizen (felonies), and if you work security for a retailer, you have full arrest powers in cases of retail fraud. If you are a guard operating under PA 330 then you have full police powers on duty. This is Michigan law.
