Very interesting experience with FlipVideo. First off I love their camera. Secondly their support leaves a lot to be desired especially where the Macintosh Platform is considered.

Those who know me and have followed my time in the industry since 1975 know that when I love something I will tell everyone about it. If you want me to rave about your product here's the things you need to do:

1. Produce a quality product. If I've purchased it and it works I will tell everyone. I will go to bat for you at every turn. I will stand up for you when others do not because I will believe in your product.

2. Make it usable on both Macintosh and PC platforms. If you're not cross platform compliant in todays computing environment you're missing a beat. Customers today will use both Mac & PC since they both run Intel chips now there's really no need to not be platform independent. People used to gripe about how closed the Mac platform was for development purposes. Get over it. Now with Intel and 64 bit computing if you're not compatible you're also missing a beat in the marketplace as those people out there that use a Mac also use a Windows machine at some level and in some cases that very same Mac runs Windows. (Mine does via Bootcamp since both virtual solutions are iffy in the support area and with regards to activation BOTH PARALLELS and VMWARE SUCK).

3. Last but certainly NOT least. Don't make me wait 2 months for support on your product and then ship me a piece of software that has not been QA'd yet and past the test. Flip did this today and this is why this video exists. They blew it.

The software does not work. It pops an error dialog, does not allow me to submit that error to Apple or them directly, and the bottomline is that they are looking for a cheap way to be in the Mac market and play at a high level. Get over it people. Create the software the right way and if you can't do it then fire your development manager, hire me for a month and I'll get your coding team on track and in a week will have something viable that looks MAC-LIKE and solves the problems. Note to coding team, that's 30 days of straight work, no early time off, and we make the app work as it's supposed to and it looks good on screen.

That's all folks.

  • Mine does the exact same thing

  • Haha apple sux

  • @ding0925 would that make all the videos u had go away?

  • We had a flip for many years and it works on our vista program very well. But if we have a problem support is excellent.

  • Remove and reinstall the software..mine works fine..

  • I use Windows XP and experiance an issue like this when trying to create a Flipshare movie, it doesn't want to work with MP3 files that Windows has backed up, but Flip don't seem to care at all about resolving problems, all they're interested in is camera sales and not after sales care.

  • flipshare is bad for me bc it doesnt have any effects
