Simple Gifts Judy Collins

This is a praise hymn in 4-part chorale style based on the American Traditional Shaker melody with the text an adaptation of Psalm 145. The Shaker Melody is often attributed to "Anonymous" but was probably written by Elder Joseph Brackett Jr. (1797-1882) in 1848. It has had several names including "Simple Gifts" and the "Tis The Gift to be Simple", "Lord of the Dance" and "Shaker Dance Song."

Thanks for posting this ! I sang this beautiful song to my daughters when they were children & my daughter has taught the song to my 2 young grandchildren... I'm thrilled. :-)

It's a recorder but for some reason it's in the difficult key of Db. It would be so much 'simpler' to take it down to C but I guess the recorder part was an after-thought and this was the best key for Judy's voice.
