  • i watch this movie and i think that

why this movie is not happy ending;w;?

    このアニメを見てすごく感動しましたでも

    ちょっと最後に主人公の男の子が死ぬのは

    どかと思います;w;ちょっと無責任な気が。。

    悲しいすぎます;w;

  • if the ending would be happy than it would be just another happy shounen movie... I think I'm talking for most of the ppl that the ending was quite right!.

boku ga nihhon wakarimasen -.- suma;)

  • There's nothing good about a happy ending if it serves no purpose. Sad or bleak endings actually can be far more interesting. I would say in any good happy ending is also an element of melancholy. I don't understand why this should be even an issue worth mentioning. And ending is an ending. It fits or not.

  • I think its a realistic and good ending. Sometimes the hero doesn't, or shouldn't, come back home alive and/or well.

In this case many airmen, in world war 2 and some wars beyond, died in the sky when everyone expected them to return home.

    原作を読むと最後に監督が死を設定した背景がわかります。

    「可哀想なんかじゃない」草薙(ナ・バ・テア)

    死という概念が、キルドレと原作者の森氏が言う大人との間では異なるのです。

  • @kcolpaer Beautifully worded.

  • The film's majesty is only enhanced by the beauty of the soundtrack. It reduces me to tears.

  • Well, gotta consider this is a novel adaptation, where the author can usually be more gutsy about his plot. Oshii was gutsy too not to sweeten up the movie for the audience (any more than he did), but then again, he's got a big enough name to get away with it. I don't like it when a character i like dies, but if nothing else, it was worth it just to foil my expectations, which is not a merit unto itself, but had enough substance to be stand on it's own right, methinks.

A year late, but here's a rough stab at translating what you wrote:

"I was very moved after watching this anime, I couldn't help but feel that the final actions of the male lead were, in some way, irresponsible. It just feels like such a tragic waste."

This track never fails to give me a lump in my throat starting from 1:40. From that point, the music evokes a sense of grim finality, painting a scene of doomed airmen embarking on a mission from which they won't return.

  • @zizikelizike you are right you should the (Buried)

  • Ótimo filme =D

  • A neverending war in which the soldiers cannot die, nothing is gained and nothing is lost, that's the ultimate torment.

  • @zizikelizike The movie is open ended, there's no good or bad ending...

  • I think the ending had a cool twist but at the same time I also think that it was kinda sad only because Kanami learned alot during his time that the other pilots didnt know or didnt care because they were bred to take orders and fight, they knew nothing else, but Kanami was different, he kinda learned how to live like a normal human, but then he died and his clone comes and he knows nothing, back to square one
