An early video on the Liero3D engine!

The goal of this project is to create a remake on the original Liero game, and keep the feeling and the graphics as much as possible.

THINGS TO NOTE:

This project is very much a Work-in-progress, some bugs are visible and there is loads of work left before the game is released.

I'm still working on those particles, no remarks are needed ;)

Objects like stones and clay block are temporary generated as spheres for the sake of this movie, they will be shaped more like the original when done.

The white parts of this movie shows my attempt to fake a "SSAO" like effect.

The engine is Written in C# and XNA

  • Look it's mars, are you using this engine for "Cube World"?

  • @8BitSuperSaiyan

I don't get why people think i created Cube world?

No, it is not the same engine, and I am not the creator of Cube world.

  • @FranticEntertainmen my bad, i think this was linked on wollay's channel so my bad for the mistake :P

  • @8BitSuperSaiyan

    No worries :)

  • Inspired by Minecraft :D

  • @Baalund

I think i was more inspired by voxatron than minecraft, since each block symbolize a pixel and don't have any textures for detail. (technically there are textures but these are used for the shading)

You don't happen to be one of those people who claim pepsi and cocacola taste exactly the same? ;-)

  • @kingklooneyville

hehe no, I am not :)

But I might have exchanged a few words with the creator of Cubeworld about the Liero3D project, nice to see he liked it :)

  • @FranticEntertainmen Because The Creator Of Cube World Liked The Vid XD

  • @FranticEntertainmen

Frantic, I see why. WollayFX (the creator of Cube World) liked this video and it's on his main channel mixed in with videos he actually uploaded himself. I came here thinking this was his video as well.

  • @TheEventMaker

nah sorry, there is to much code in this project to make a simple tutorial.

It might look simple, but there is allot of things going on.

Glad to hear your solved the xna problem :D

  • @jounihat

No, it works more like a normal 3d engine, where i generate vertex data in chunk sections. :)

  • @FranticEntertainmen Okay I found out why it didn't work. The dll file called "mscoree.dll" was outdated, so I had to manually update it to 4.0.3. I don't know why it did that.

But I ask now, will there possible be a tutorial on this. I would guess not, but I ask anyways.
