How many people knew about The Hues Corporation before their number one hit, "Rock The Boat?" Well listeners to MOR radio did, because "Freedom For The Stallion," from the year before, was their first hit, and while it only hit 69 on Billboard Hot 100, it charted big on Easy Listening.

  • Been looking for this song forever..greal post!!!

  • @blexacano33 Thank you!

  • This is one of my dad's favorite songs. I've been looking for the mp3 at the iTunes and Amazon stores so he can play it on his iPod, but no online music store seems to have it. Does anyone know where I'd be able to find it? Please let me know!

  • @nwilhelmy There are online sites that will rip the mp3 from the video. You can also download realplayer which will enable you download the video and then there is freeware that will rip the mp3 from that.

  • I did-got play over WLAP and WVLK in Lexingotn KY in late summer 1973.

  • @bellbrookbob Thanks for that!

  • I never heard this version by the Hues Corp until now. It is amazing how very similar their recording sounds to an early 1970's version by the Oak Ridge Boys. The trumpet is identical and the background harmony nearly identical and the "mercy" part sung by Joe Bonsall is dead on for the Hues Corp. version. If I knew how to upload the Oak Ridge Boys version from i tunes I would so all could hear.

  • i have been years looking for the original sample of 9th wonder! That's the good shit!

  • I remember this song by Three Dog Night on their 1972 album, "Seven Separate Fools". The Hues Corporation did a very nice version of this song!

  • i remembe this be for rock the boat great song

  • I have this record great old song

  • @MrTrashcan1 Also performed by Edward Bear...

  • Wow,for years i have ask people if they know this song,no one did..I thought i was remembering thing wrong lol ...

  • One of the best songs ever! Lost but not forgotten, I hadn't heard it in years but I hum it all the time. Those of you who grew up with this music, can you remember those steel muscle cars, two tons of gas and pass!! Eight track stereos...the early cassettes, these tunes playing in the car as you rolled down the Blvd? Homecoming games, and the simplicity of life? I sure do...makes me think of this song and freedom we once all knew. Life was so much more simple. Miss that...don't you

  • Tony Orlando And Dawn have a version also! Both versions sound awsome!
