When NASCAR's Speed TV showed the V8 SuperCars Bathurst race, Leo Parente wondered "What's going on?". This SHAKEDOWN looks at what it means for NASCAR's future and if there are lessons to be learned for the series and its fans.

  • Having cars that represent actual production vehicles again would actually make me want to join the Nascar crowd and increase sales at dealerships as well just like it did in the 70s

  • Nascar: Left, straight, left, straight, left, straight.. etc

V8 Supercar: Left, right, 180, left, right, straight, right, right, left, dingo, stop, have a beer, left, right, 180... etc

  • NASCAR needs real cars, not upside-down fibreglass bathtubs that have absolutely no resemblance to anything on the market. NASCAR was cool in the days of the big-wing Daytonas but those days are long gone. Say what you will about the whole circle thing but if they put those classic muscle cars on an oval I would pay to watch it, and I've never watched a NASCAR race in my life.

Drifting isn't racing. Racing means the first to cross the line wins, that is very much not what drifting is all about. To compare motorsport to the Olympics, if racing is track then drifting is figure skating, it's judged.

  • The V8's are some of the hardest cars to drive. Mostly due to the fact we still use a proper gearbox rather than those stupid flappy paddles.

  • @Dimitri0809

drifting only lasts for 30 secs and yeah i'll admit it takes skill, but you can't compare drifting and V8 Supercars, or even any form of circuit racing, there almost 2 different sports. This "tsychia" guy might be a good drifter, but he can't be called a good driver if he doesn't race on circuits against other cars.

  • We all know that v8 supercars is 110% better than NASCAR.

Watching my little brother ride his bike around our front yard is more exciting than NASCAR.

  • V8 supercars are good but the best driver is tsychia from japan and he is a drifter and drifting requires more skill than v8 supercars making it a much more exciting race to watch.

  • contiuned: Hell the chapionship on the very last round got decided in the last race of last year!! the action is amazing compaired to NASCAR. i think we should see a NASCAR go up on bathurst... it wouldnt survive 6 hours of carnage!

  • ok 1, V8 Supercars has way better history and way BETTER racing than NASCAR. In V8s we had the brockys, the Moffats, The Johnsons, The Bartlets and even Bob Jane... it Shits all over NASCAR! Bathurst is one of the highest most insane tracks in the world and its about time it got recognised for the racing that happens each year on the mountain for the Peter Brock Trophy... You Americans need to get your backsides to texas when the V8s take over and see the real action!

  • 2minutes of hearing this guys ANNOYING voice was enough for me..................

  • @w0m8at205 On which track?

On the NASCAR oval style it would be very interesting to see who would win.

On a V8 Supercar track (like Bathurst), the NASCAR wouldn't stand a chance.
