You can't see it, but way off in the distance someone is walking towards Gustav to a predetermined spot, then standing there, then waiting for him to display an "acceptable alternative behavior": not aggression. We'd like him to eventually offer friendly behaviors, like a relaxed approach, relaxed muscles, a low slow tail wag, and squinty eyes. We also accept sniffing, head turning, low tail, and open mouth. This is when we first started.

  • I've been learning about Constructional Aggression Treatment so this video is very interesting. When you say someone stood in a predetermined spot, and waiting for a calm behavior, did the human then retreat to reward the calm behavior? How is Gustav doing now, do you think CAT helped? Did you also having the help of a professional dog trainer? Thanks for any info.
