The Rt Hon the Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas PC AM and William Hay MLA discussed their roles as guardians of the democratic process as the Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales and Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly respectively. The session also examined what the young Assemblies in Wales and Northern Ireland have taken from other Parliaments, and the similarities between Dafydd Elis-Thomass and Williams Hays roles in increasing understanding of the democratic process within different sections of society.

The three day Pierhead Sessions took place from 4th - 6th March 2010 in the Pierhead Building, which is located opposite the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay.
