Nice setting of Sappho's verses,great orchestration, clear structure of piece,very convincing performance.Too bad that the only Greek music piece he knows is 'Zorbas' - a lot there to discover.

The violin piece is very dramatic, effective use of tremolo,double-stops and harmonics. Gratifying performance..
Overall, once more, Salonen proves to be a very,very inspiring musician.

Great program, nice to hear Salonen discussing the Sappho songs. A lesser-known gem in his work. The way he tonepaints the text is amazing. I love Salonen's chamber music, these pieces deserve to become more well-known...
