Pet Rats - Hooded Dumbo Eared

Rats make great pets. Got these 2 males at 7 weeks old, never been handled. We could pick them up within four days. They love to eat most things. We give them pet shop rat muesli & rat nuggets (breeders may not approve as this is high in protein but hey..) They also love banana, apple, peas, sweetcorn, cheese, nuts, cooked pasta, fish, cooked rice, cooked porridge, porridge oats, cooked egg, cooked potato, raw carrot, Jacob's crackers, and rat treats from the pet shop like chocolate drops etc. Also love wild stuff like acorns, spiders and moths the bigger the better. Very friendly, will sit on your shoulder all day if you let them. The children love them.
Rats need to be cleaned every 2 -3 days and will need to be handled daily. Ours are allowed out of their cage for a run about for at least an hour a day. They currently weigh 550g and 600g which is about 1 and a half pounds each.
We bath them once a week. The cage is a Freddy 2 by Savic. You will need a cage with horzontal main bars. (Rats love to climb so the vertical bar cages are useless.)
Please note, the rats were trained to jump from the table, starting with the table being right next to the sofa and gradually moving the table further away. Please do not try large gaps with your rats until they are ready for it.

Snuffles & Nibbles both died Jan 2011 :-(

So sorry they died :(, I got 2 4 week old dumbos yesterday. Their names are Dora and Buffy, how comes they both died around the same time? Just curious xx

@Bexxiiee97 I suspect foul play by my ex mother-in-law who said I'd be sorry after a fall out over picking my children up. (The rats lived with my ex wife after my divorce) A week later they were both dead. Your guess is as good as mine as to how they died. Maybe it was just natural causes , who knows?

@ChaosTime86 Thanks for the comment. Yes I agree the music is weird (but it is better than a lot on the stuff you get if try and use the Youtube audio swap feature) And finding an artist that does not have the soundtrack removed from the video due to copyright violations is getting harder. (I have had that happen too)

Beautiful boys! I have three. 2 are identical to yours (black hooded) and I have a naked. I love them so much!! They have the same cage. I only clean mine out once a week as the more you clean em out the more they'll scent mark and smell.
