The Porsche's first start on the new engine

Swapped in a used 944 engine (from an 1987 N/A) into my 1986 N/A. The original engine suffered some valve damage, we're guessing, and this is the first start after the swap. The idle is steady and the engine sounds completely different. There is an engine idle dip once the engine gets warm on a very precise timed interval. We're not sure what it is.
