I finally managed to collect, what as far as I know are, "all four" of the clips of Archie Bunker's hilarious pantomime suicides (which he does whenever he is at the mercy of Edith's long-winded ramblings and stories), from the timeless sitcom ALL IN THE FAMILY.

Much thanks to "laughvids" for providing the best quality full-episode uploads from which this special little montage of clips was created.

So enjoy "ALL IN THE FAMILY : THE ARCHIE BUNKER PANTOMIME SUICIDES".
:-)
R.I.P. Carroll O'Connor - Thanks for your comedic brilliance!

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED - I did my best to include the appropriate credits of ownership and whatnot at the end, with the exception of the caricature illustration, the artist's name of which escapes me - it was one of MAD Magazine's renowned artists, but I'll be damned if I can remember specifically which one?
(The image was featured on the cover of an issue from the 1970s, with several other iconic TV and movie "couples" of the era, and had a bonus floppy vinyl recording called "Makin Out").

  • Superb Collection of Archie Bunker's pantomime suicides. He was very good at it, especially the "pills" scene. I was an avid reader of "MAD" magazine and had every single issue of the 60s, 70's and 80's. The illustrations do look a lot like Mort Drucker or one of the other great artists of "MAD".

  • @tonyrocco55 : There's apparently a couple of these "suicides" in the spinoff series, Archie Bunker's Place ; in one episode, right off the top, Archie revisits the Russian Roulette (but it's not nearly as well-done as the original one here), and the other was a "electric chair" bit, which was pretty amusing. Both of them were while at the mercy of Stephanie's ramblings, lol.

  • Love the little touches, like tapping the bottom of the pill bottle or testing the razor with his hair. Terrific stuff.

  • jean was excellent in these classic scenes, keeping a straigh face while carroll does his thing.

these two where great actors, no remake of this show could ever be done with different actors in the title roles

  • Jean Stapleton was amazing.

  • He really knew how to capture the subtlety of his head bouncing back after getting shot in the head. Must have studied the JFK assassination video for a long time.

  • This was a perfect collection. I was hoping someone would post this.

  • Love these clips especially the russian roulette clip very funny. Carroll O'Connor was a comedic genius. RIP Carrol O,Connor

  • My first guess would be Mort Drucker. Or it could have been Angelo Torres. Or perhaps even Jack Davis.
