Hey folks! Just remember, without the songwriter, there would be no argument over "The best version" They are all good in my opinion. All of the versions are just slightly different. They all add their own special take.

I'm just glad that Eric Bogle found these special lyrics, music and emotions within himself to share with the world.

I think that this song should be played 10 times in a row to every banker and fortune 500 ceo at the start of every day.

I've been listening to different versions of this song, each good in its own way, but find I prefer the version of the songwriter, Eric Bogle. He also wrote "Waltzing Matilda", another moving song about WWI. What a talented musician!  He levels a well deserved indictment against war. If only everyone were required to listen to these songs, perhaps we humans could regain our sanity and stop committing the mass suicide known as war.

Eric wrote a beautiful song and can play that guitar, but I have to say that Finbar Furey sings the version that brings a tear to your eye.

In 1983, I bought a vinyl record from a store in Melbourne which contained "No Man's Land" and it was Eric Bogle performed under the group name "The Cobblers". I tried to obtain this version in digital format but failed. Anyone who likes this version which is "live" should try to find out more. Thanks to Eric Bogle, he is a wonderful singing Scot!
