Now everybody is a Anthropologist.
No where in the man's study did he say that NOT KNOWING who invented Sugar Pops kept the kids from thriving. They failed due to attitudes of "Acting White", sorry parenting and little to no Studying. What part of that is escaping your comprehension?
Just damn. It's always somebody else's fault when WE FAIL due to OUR OWN choices. We will never get up off the ground as long as Negroes like you continue to find fault.
It make s me F-----g Sick!

Most black parents are still living in the past decades when education was optional and you could run out to the Ford plant and get a job on the line or work your way up from the bottom in some white collar company. There is no sense of urgency.
Many don't view it today as serious as a DO or DIE and Life or Death situation like some of these foreigners who come over knowing that the only thing separating them from hunger and poverty is education.

"institutionalized" ? Do U mean as in corporations legally raiding the pensions funds of workers, or perhaps as in the govt invading far weaker nations & in the process of which murdering 10s of thousands of innocent civilians. Or perhaps U mean wealthy bankers engineering the systemic financial theft of 100s of millions from masses of working people. U are incorrect- Dyson's book alleges no such thing as any reader can clearly see. U are confused- enslaved Africans were not voluntary immigrants

@shieldsff I've read Dyson's book and it made me laugh to be honest. This new "structuralism" is nothing more than his eloquent, articulate way of blaming whites in such a way that it's seen as institutionalized and thus never changing. As far as Brown v BOA, it's the welfare state of Democrats that's to blame. Decades of "Keep them poor and dumb and you'll keep them dependent" have created a permanent "victim class". How else does Waters get re-elected? Plantation politics at it's best.

You are spot on again (as usual). I used to get teased for good grades but thankfully my father told me that the ones who were teasing me would end up in the hole. He was right, most of them did.

What you're saying makes sense. It starts at home. There's nothing wrong with being educated and staying true to your race when it comes to your demeanor. Its sad that when people speak the truth they risk the chance of being called a sellout from those who don't accept or care to keep an open mind. This is why we can't advance as a country.

For many, the truth hurts. My mother set us at the kitchen table and made us do our homework while she cooked our dinner. If we didn't do all our homework, we didn't get to eat. We read in bed before we went to bed. We did spelling quizzes in the car as we went places. My mom had a 9th grade education and my dad had a 12th grade education. My parents invested time in us. Parents, if you want your children to thrive, then "you" invest time in your child, period!

Ameen. I got a C in Chinese one semester. That was the WORST choice I made in Jr. High. My father grilled me hard! He took all my toys away. He made me vacuum everyday. I had to come straight home from practice and do my homework. I had a 8pm curfew for the entire semester. I was in bed by 8:30pm. I dang near ate the same meal for dinner most of that time. I had to run in the park with him while he lectured me on education. I got a 3.8 GPA so it worked!

ok, this had some interesting points,but what about that Swedish economist scholar who says just the opposite (American Delimma). What should be done about the subverting and lack of enforcement on "Brown vs. Board of Education" which has been underway for decades. I think something else which applies is what Jonathan Kozol wrote about in terms of qualitative disparities of the school systems.Have you read the book, "Is Bill Cosby Right", by Michael Dyson ? He argues about a new structualism
I am going to break your heart it is not a lack of talent are ability it is a attitude problem.

@BleedingBullets4
Quoting You, "lack of talent are ability". Your "Unintelligible" statement surely show where the lack of talent lies NOT. Good bye.

suffice to say that this academic resentment lead to false conclusions: Namely, they live life as if it ends at age 25-30, while those who focus on education live life as it starts at age 25-30.

@nigerachy1
Wise assessment. Question, do you hold citizenship documents from Nigeria?

@tmotofga
Thanks. I don't hold those documents but on the basis of my parents being of Nigerian ancestry, I'm granted citizenship automatically and simply need to file for it
