Ganon beaten without taking damage. Played in real time on Snes9x v1.43 rerecording.

The first stage of the fight with Ganon is easy. Just wail on him with your sword while he throws his trident around.

The second stage is considerably harder and is the most difficult part of the fight. He'll form a circle of fiery bats around his trident and then launch them out at you one after another. These can be very hard to dodge, but there's a few basic patterns you can follow to dodge them, as shown in the video. Keep slashing Ganon with your sword in between the volleys of bats but beware that the timing of them becomes more irregular as he takes damage.

The third stage isn't too hard as long as you're careful. Ganon will start teleporting much more frequently, and if you're not close to him when he appears he'll stop and release a bat that will circle out from him, leaving a trail of fire behind it. What you want to do here is stand about four floor tile widths away from where Ganon teleports to and not move until he stops flashing. Once he's fully materialized run up and slash him with your sword before retreating again.

After each hit from your sword Ganon will knock away an outer row of floor tiles from the room. Be very careful not to fall off the edge, because if you do you'll have to start the fight over again from the beginning. Once the tiles are gone from all four sides of the room the final stage of the fight begins.

The two torches in the room will go out and Ganon will disappear. While invisible he'll release a bat at you before teleporting, and repeat. Watch where he is when this happens because you can tell where about he's going to teleport next -- he usually moves back and forth between the top and bottom of the room.

Lighting both torches causes Ganon to become visible again. However, be careful that you don't light them while he's on top of you (it's a good idea to light them while he's at the top of the room), because you're very vulnerable to being knocked off the edge while lighting them. Also, be careful not to knock yourself off if he appears next to you; the knockback from slashing him can easily push you off if you're standing to either side of him along the bottom of the room.

With both torches lit, you can now stun Ganon with a hit from your sword, during which time he'll be vulnerable to silver arrows. If you time it just right you can hit him with two arrows in a row, but this is hard to do. It takes four arrows total to destroy Ganon.

  • so the snes version only gives you one bottle?

    poor bastards

  • @silnaek No, when you move the cursor onto the bottle icon, it expands to show all four bottles.

  • Did this take a bunch of tries or what? Seems like you'd do this over and over until you finally did a perfect run. Or are you that good?

  • @hunterlord101 It took maybe half a dozen tries when I sat down to record this, but I'd fought Ganon many times in the past and already knew how to avoid getting hit.

  • can you hit him with the arrows or bombs

  • @stewiegriffin2032 No, except for silver arrows when he's stunned.

  • Ganon hates the floor.

  • I like it how in Wind Waker the Wizrobes make the same teleporting sound. :)

  • Did you know you could actually get a few hits on him before he starts his dialouge? It works for both the SNES and the GBA ports of the game.
