A portrayal of the debilitating effects of not acquiring social / conversational skills early on in life. How it leads to a vicious cycle of further isolation, and a further dead-end as far as those skills are concerned. How the continuation of it leads to a lack of self-esteem, self-image, and self-confidence.

  • I understand completely, at a guess, no one understands? 99% of people speak & socialise when they're growing up, itsbecome a natural thing. But they don't understand that if you aren't lucky enough to go through these social situations, it becomes really confusing in adulthood.

I have no idea how to make conversation. My social anxiety gives me such fear i can't even concentrate on it in the first place. A lot of things I say upset people, but that is not intent, i just want to be friends

  • @roopzie wow, that is precisely how I feel about things

  • I don't think this person was asking for pity. The point was to encourage everyone to be more understanding.

  • You're not the only one.

  • hmmm, i guess i used to be like you and somewhat I still am, but I think I am improving. It just takes more practice, im not like everyone else yet but im happy to say that i am practicing and getting there. I am thankful for the small amount of friends that i do have though.

  • There are two really great books on communication that have helped me tremendously. One of them is 'The Gift Of The Gab' by Jaquie Wise and the other book is called Conversationally Speaking by Alen Garner. These books really lay the foundation for effective communication and teach rudimentary communication rules that people like us have never learnt or picked up. These books are incredible.

I hope this helps because no one should have to live with a debilitating condition like ours.

  • Hi guys and gals. I'm sure that if you've watched this video, then in all likelihood your conversation and social skills suck. I know how horrible it feels to be lonely and not know how to speak and interact with people. It's a nightmare.

I've managed to find a way out of it though. It's not easy and it takes time but the reward is worth it. I started reading books on the subject of communication and social- anxiety and psychology in general. It all helps to give perspective an encouragement.
