  • Cute video, I'm thinking of getting a PWD. Do you know if they are typically good around cats?

  • We don't have a cat, but I've heard that if you get them young enough, they will do fine together. Just be sure to get your puppy from someone who belong to the Portuguese Water Dog Club of American. He'd be less likely to have any health problems. We don't belong to that organization, but we made sure we got our dogs from someone who did!

  • I just lost my 11 year old Portie and this video made me smile with so many memories of Tucker at the lake...What beautiful pups they both are!

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. This breed sure is a lot of fun. We now have a saline pool that they have a blast swimming in and we'll head back to the beach when summer comes!

  • Janet,

What great fun!! I can't believe this was Skipper's first introduction to the water. He is definitely a WATER DOG...no doubt about that...look at him swim! Thanks for posting this darling video! I agree that these boys are both "great looking Porties", but I guess I'm a little prejudiced!

Hugs and kisses from gram and gramps Duncan

  • Thanks Sherry! (Gram and gramps Duncan are Skippers breeders.)

  • LOL, first time I took my first PWD to the beach, she crapped in the waves. ^^ They're such amazing dogs, so sweet and fun and active... It's hard not to love them. they're so smart, too, with can be a pain, but it's rewarding.

Also, interesting comment: PWDs have webbed toes! ^.^ They were bred to haul in fishing nest and relay messages between boats. Great swimmers, love the water, just awesome non shedding dogs! :D *will always own one*

  • Nice video

  • Hey i was reading this and I just wanted to warn you that it's better to not comment when you are an IDIOT!
