It's Mike Hampton taking the first solo, and he can tear it up, but in my book Eddie Hazel was the best on this song -- he recorded the original, after all. (That's Eddie being drowned out by Mike about halfway through this vid.)

This is really emotional and beautiful sounding. The soloing reminds me a little bit of David Gilmour. As a self proclaimed "Metal Head" I still appreciate this very much.
I didn't think "funk" could also sound so spiritual. Two thumbs up!!
