Performer - Deanna Durbin
Music - Jimmy McHugh
Lyrics - Harold Adamson

A 15 year old Deanna Durbin performs this work in the movie, "Mad About Music".

*Note - I've posted this before but was not happy with the sound quality. I've made a new master from the original tape and uploaded it with a program which allows for higher quality sound.*

  • Extraordinary and fabulous are adjectives that do not do justice to this incredible singing. I understand she lives in France. Does anyone know how to get a letter to her?

  • she sings those high notes so effortlessly

  • the girls in movies back then were so innocent looking

  • It's hard to pick Deanna's most perfect performance, but this is as close to perfection as one can get I would say. She could sing modern, operetta, folk, everything! She could sing it sweet, sultry, tragic, sad and glad.

  • @usagigurl Durbin was born in Canada and raised in California. She retired from movies at the age of 27 and moved to France. She has only done one interview in 62 years. As of 2010 she is 89.

  • good voice, where is she now

  • beautiful song

  • I am not an opera buff but I know of nobody else I would have liked to hear singing opera. There is a purity in her voice and technique that is a joy to behold. Dame Sister Mary Leo from New Zealand trained many famous sophanos and use Deanna as her model attempting to get all her students to be like Deanna. There are several stories like that. One thing for sure we are blessed to have heard her.

  • Deanna Durbin, Americas favorite teen-ager!

  • I found violinthief while looking for a different recording. When I saw the pic of Deanna Durbin, I had to check it out. So happy I did! I used to love watching Deanna's old movies on TV. Such a clear smooth voice. Not a rough edge anywhere! If you haven't yet done so, check out her version of Nessun Dorma, not usually sung by a woman.
