Maya is an awesome tool for creating animated logos from existing Illustrator files. In this tutorial by Stuart Christensen, you will learn the quick tips on how to import Illustrator files with either the .ai or .eps extension. In some cases you will need to convert the .ai or .eps file into a new file that Maya will recognize. This basic tutorial also shows you how to use the Bevel Plus tool to create great looking 3D bevels and extrusions.

  • U saved my Life ! Thanx =)

  • @thulfiqar20 And you lived to tell about it! Glad it worked out for you! I love working with logo stuff in Maya!

  • i couldnt watch the last 50 seconds of your video so i dont know if you went on to say something about it but is there an easy way to apply a smooth to .ai generated maya geometry and have it look decent? i would like to bring the geometry into zbrush for further work but so far i cant subdivide the geometry because the topology does not support it.

  • @HellzMajik No, for the most part you have to manually hand adjust the logo in Maya. The key is to setup a really clean curve in Illustrator, but sometimes you are working with someone elses logo work in AI and it may not be all that great. The cleaner it looks in Illustrator the better it will transfer to Maya. However, smoothing in Maya can be done but mostly it just adds more points that you need to manually adjust anyway if it doesn't look right. Cheers. STU
