NHK World: China Wow! A Clash over Culinary Tradition PART 2/3
Episode 4: A Clash over Culinary Tradition
Cat Rescue and Struggle of Animal Rights Activists in Shanghai, recorded by Miwa on NHK World Friday 23rd April 2010.
The culinary tradition of eating dog and cat meat is coming under fire as animal rights activists struggle to protect animals. During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Chinese authorities temporarily banned the eating of dog meat in the city, in a bid to look "civilized." But it is back on the tables of many restaurants. In the backdrop of such movements, animal rights activists are coming together to rescue stolen or stray dogs and cats. But without an animal protection law, there is a limit to what activists can do. China Wow followed the day-to-day work of animal rights activists and looks at China's changing culinary scene and values regarding the use of dog and cat meat.

The Chinese government is at fault.
They only care about economic growth and interests for themslves.
Respect to these animal protectors in China.
China needs help, not racism !!!
