Ok so I just saw HuskyStarcraft's video about stacking seige tanks behind mineral lines and between supply depots. Having played a lot of terran I remembered doing stuff like this kinda accidentally where a tank or two would stick to eachother if dropped near other units.

Started off trying to use other seiged tanks as walls, didn't work too well and when it did it required too many tanks to be reasonable. Realized any terran going tank medvac would have lots of marines and bingo.

  • the fight at the end was pretty pointless, it would be the same thing with 16 siege tanks, the only difference being you could protect more siege tanks with fewer fodder units. Basically, what this would do is make it very unforgiving to move any where because you walk anywhere near this and a significant amount of your army dies instantly.

    Imagine the current tvt game atm. if terran1 has a a bunch of tanks at a choke, terran2 would normally try to gain air superiority and poke at the nearest tank by moving one or two of their tanks into range. Normally this ends with a shootout between 2 tanks with the one that shot first winning.

    now with all the tanks stacked it covers less ground, but if any other terran tries to poke that line with another tank it will die.

    but if you get hit with one volley, you lose ALL your tanks. eh.

    but you only need to stack 2 tanks on top of eachother to win a poking fight.

    Im Zerg and I say it doesnt need any fixing. Just see how long it takes to setup, even if u're are fast you really need too much time. The fight wasnt microed as well, there is a reason why you tankspread against Zerg.

    It should be far more effectiv against protoss

  • the fight at the end was NOT pointless... the enemy would be fooled to attack thinking there is 1 tank... when there are 16 ... very clever indeed.

  • Just bring a couple of raves and throw seeker missiles... win the game. I really hope some idiot tries this against me.

  • @Messiahs Exactly, but even if is most effective against toss, protoss has a bunch of units that wreck tanks with easy, so my tough as a toss is, that this "exploit" deserves to stay, these kinds of exploits were the ones that made BroodWar awesome (like the muta stack) and made it a succesfull E-sport, the same that sc2 wants to reach, even if it the exploit "looks" retarded this thing can make a twist in the sc2 metagame and make it the awesomest game of all time.

  • why not just surround 2 tanks with the marines? (or 1 tank and 1 hellion, whatever is the size of the hole you need)

  • @Messiahs against high templar and colossi? I guess you could focus fire them, but that again would require quite some micro
