The dictionary definition of a menagerie is a collection of wild animals. The second is for exhibition. Add these two definitions together, you have Boulder, CO-based rock band, The Menagerie.

The Menagerie was formed at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the year 2000 by virtuoso guitarist Eric Holder, and funky bass specialist Tyler Olmsted. After two years of being a college-party band, The Menagerie hired jazz-trained keyboardist Adam Williamson, and began playing small club gigs along the Rocky Mountain Front Range. The band developed a local reputation for their high-energy BIG sound, which ultimately led to frequent headliner performances at the famous Fox Theatre in Boulder. The bands success in Colorado then enabled them to embark on national tours throughout the following year.

After a line-up change in May 2005, The Menagerie took a short hiatus to search for the missing layer in their music. Through months and months of searching for the right musician for the position, the group found a new edge with the progressive-fusion drumming style of the Athens, Ohio, native Jim Johanson. This all-star lineup of musicians thus known as The Menagerie was finally complete.

The Menagerie masterfully crafts their own sound, with influences hinting from the unique songwriting style of Pink Floyd to the rock-infused grooves of The Band of Gypsies. With a band full of so much talent and musicianship, there is definitely a very deep well of potential that has yet to be tapped.
Websters Dictionary states that a menagerie is a collection of wild animals. Right now, this menagerie is for exhibition. Therefore, once you capture the band live, you may make the decision on how to define The Menagerie if definable.
