The Ring is only made of aluminum there is no metal in the ring it is held in place by the eddy currents.
the coil has at 50 Hz a 66 degree Phase shift.

  • Aluminum is some time used as part of a ground circuit, do to its ability to contain magnetic fields. At one time house grounding wires was attached to aluminum for creating grounds.

Yes, nice demo. Studying the math it sounds like to me on coil and step up and step down. Eddie current can be used in may different ways like finding cracks in metal made of aluminum, used in Non-destructive Inspection of materials do to what you are showing there. Magnetic field penetrates aluminum and well.

  • Nice Demo thanks for this.

Aluminum conducts & is a shorted turn. Induced current creates mag field opposite to inducing mag field. So Alu loop balances both magnitude & phase in opposition to coil.

Very little energy required to do this cause whilst current is quite high, volts drop around Alu loop is very low. So E times I which is Watts is small.

  • Nice!

  • is that a ring magnet ?
