This self-made robot spider works without any logic device. It contains an effective mechanism, 2 motors, 6 light sensors and a simple artificial neural network. The behavior can quickly be modified in many ways by changing connections of the network. There's a new video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tsIAp78ggk&feature=youtu.be
Valentino Braitenberg described a series of thought experiments in which vehicles with simple internal structure behave in unexpectedly complex ways. These vehicles are bug-like entities which have direct connections between sensors and motors. Their behaviour is modulated by changing the pattern and strengths of these connections.

  • neat job can it follow body heat sources like some big spiders do ?

  • I'd love to see the reaction of my dog with that thing

  • 127 people thought it was a real spider

  • ok.... i know a birthday-present for my grildfriend now!! :D

  • Wow, imagine the havoc you could wreak with some of those. Let them loose in a restaurant and watch the fun.

  • i think this wouldn't survive for too long if you'd put it in a women's fitting room.
