We'll look at how enterprise developers can use Google Web Toolkit and the new UI Designer in Google Plugin for Eclipse to quickly build web user interfaces that are not only fast, lightweight and cross-browser compatible but reusable and easy to maintain as well.
It would be awesome If we could get a GUI Designer which woeuld be a combination of Catalyst (multiple scenes/viewstates), tumult hype, adobe edge, wakanda and the ability to easily create custom skins to be able to create unique UIs

It's good to play with the widgets, it acts as a fairly good introduction to uibinder and the widget pallete but that's about it.. switch to HTMLPanel/div layout in UIBinder as soon as you start to understand what you need..

UI Designer sucks really bad, if you want to develop complex and nice looking UIs, use UIBinder instead.

Actual functionality of this tool is unfortunately a shame for Google. Eric, you lie in the presentation, you fat pig. You just wasted my time.

Eric, You are a big liar! Nothing in this great tool - GWT Designer - actually works! It's one of the biggest disappointment I had in a couple of years. This can't be compared to tools like old Borland Delphi used to be. Designer is just amateurisch piece of commerce shit. It's a shame there is a Google't trademark on it. I just spend whole afternoon playing with this great tool and it can not do a simple Grid with a button on it. Moving a button between panels just fucks everything up!

such tools were here since decades and I think UI code generation is really ugly.. ever seen Visual Studio Xaml Editor, or much better, Expression Blend? Google you need better tools!

The tool works "remarkably well"? I would disagree, the last 3 years I tried the tool and it never failed to disappoint me. It's slow, crashing randomly, hangs my Eclipse to the point it's completely unusable.
It was a big surprise for me that Google bought such a crappy product.
Now if Google wants a nice UI tool they should look at Xcode Interface Builder...
Sorry, Eric Clayberg, but this tool is terrible.
