INVedit:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/14190-invedit/

INVedit is a third party tool, not a mod, so you can use it without it being updated or having to reinstall it every time there's a Minecraft version update. It can also edit new things from an update when they're in your inventory, you just have to get some of said new things in your inventory in the first place. I find it a handy thing to have when there are things I want to test in Survival.

The glass pillars are a debug tool that Jeb forgot to remove. Convenient as this allows players to find and reach these new Stronghold blocks that much faster.

So, now Strongholds have these chambers with rings of these "crystal blocks" guarded by a nasty Silverfish Spawner and some lava pools. It's a dangerous place to be until you get rid of that spawner. Flint and Steel is useful for killing Silverfish without causing more to pop out of the walls after you. Coating everything in dirt or some other non-flammable block works too since Silverfish only invade Stone, Stone Bricks, and I think Cobblestone.

As the Sky Dimension comes closer and closer to being officially included in a release or prerelease, it is thought that crafting some "Eye of Ender" items from Blaze Powder and Ender Pearls and then using them to "repair" the circles will eventually create a portal to the Sky Dimension. There seem to be new settings in the server options that suggest the Sky Dimension is coming closer to being released as well.

You can't break the crystals with your hand or with tools, so you can't collect them and rebuild the ring elsewhere... normally. You can, however, explode them and collect the ones that weren't completely destroyed by the blast. Considering the inefficiency of this, you'd either have to get very lucky or find multiple of these rings to collect from if you want to rebuild the ring completely in a location of your choosing. It looks like entering the Sky Dimension will in most cases have to be done from the heart of a stronghold... They might make the crystals collectible with tools in the future, or they might make them immune to explosions in the future.

Unfortunately the Sky Dimension is currently bugged and saves and loads to/from the same folder as the surface dimension, meaning the terrain winds up being the normal "boring" terrain rather than the floating islands unless you have a server start in the Sky Dimension in the first place.

The Sky Dimension has been in the code for a while now, but has only been accessible through mods. Let's hope that's about to change.

  • i typed in the exact thing........ NOTHING APEARED WHEN IT WAS GENERATED! SAME WORLD As YOURS BUT NO STRONGHOLD WHERE U DUG! although i was using pre4.

  • @VenomBlood4 The world generation changed between Pre3 and Pre4. I don't know why, but that's the reason I've held off on continuing a Minecraft's Let's Play. I've been waiting for Mojang to settle and stop changing the generation.

  • @Stealthops75 Looks like your guess was right! Congrats for guessing right when everyone else seemed to guess wrong!

  • @morgan1083 The appearance of the two are completely different, so I'm pretty sure Notch is adding both dimensions, eventually. The Ender dimension looks like it might come sooner.

The ender dragon doesn't have a skin yet. The white is a placeholder.

  • The layout is wrong

  • @evil519 The crystals were a neat appearance. I'd like if they used it for something else in the future. The new End portal frame blocks are fairly important though. They visually show players how to complete the portal. Minecraft is in desperate need of more guidance on progression, and that's the most effective guidance they have so far. They need to provide players with more of a reason to try crafting and using Eyes of Ender in the first place though...

  • to spawn the end portal just do /i 119

  • Blue Kush FTW!

  • @evildoom100 I'm not against others using mods, and I'm not against mods entirely. I just don't want a mod that gives me infinite free items. I'm more of an adventure player than a builder.

I used it for the Yogbox which was supposed to have some form of internal difficulty balance, and later I stopped using the folder for anything but the pre-releases. The folder is called "Modded Minecraft" because I use a client mod to keep the installation separate from the current official release.

  • @SilvasRuin at 1:30 you see a folder named "Modded Minecraft" so you can hardly be against installing mods....

  • @jpc1918 yeah and?

  • a new mob i cant wait and i cant download the pre release it blocks my mc out
