We drove down the Burgeo Highway this past weekend and camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park. This is another of the gems in the Newfoundland and Labrador Park system. The beaches around Burgeo are as good as anywhere in the world and not near as crowded. We had a great hike, with the fog gradually burning off. We spent some time looking at the headstones in an old cemetery near the beach. The inscriptions on the headstones tell stories of how hard life was in these places in years past. We picnicked on the beach, finished our hike and ended our day sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows. Another perfect ending!

  • My best friend is from Burgeo. I convinced her to visit the Northern Peninsula last year. Now it's my turn to visit Burgeo. she always tells me about the white sand beaches. After watching this video I definitely have to make the trip now.

All the best from Prince Edward Island.
