The first ring on the bells at Croome D'Abitot since January 2000.
Recently three Worcester Stalwarts have restored the derelict wheels here and the bells can now be rung.
Due to plain bearings, etc they are quite tricky but nowhere near as tough as you'd think (and certainly easier than before being repaired, apparently!)

They are an interesting old six and the back five predate the church, which was built specially for the estate at Croome Court.
Details:

Treble: Tho's Mears 1812
2nd : John Martin, Worcester 1662
3rd : John Martin, Worcester 1652
4th : John Martin, Worcester 1651
5th : John Martin, Worcester 1651
Tenor: Abraham Rudhall 1699, 10cwt in A

  • Looking at doing a qp here if I can, what are they like to ring please? Sound very good albeit a little loud!!

  • @simonbellringer They're nice to ring. The ancient wooden clappers have also been replaced rcently, I understand. They were loud in this recording, but only because the door was open. I'm sure you'd be most welcome for a quarter peal. You could, perhaps, contact youtuber 'thatisitithink' who looks after the bells for more information.

  • @thatsitithink Thank you!! I will bear that in mind. Want to do Saintbury and Chipping Campden so Croome may be a little too far, but if I cant go to the others then yes, I Would definitely be interested...

  • @simonbellringer Yes, you'd certainly be most welcome to ring here at Croome.

  • @Whittingtons Thanks - all talk at the moment, may go to Saintbury and Chipping Campden instead, otherwise I am looking at here and Pershore :)
