A wire in my backyard caught fire after Hurricane Irene. Around 6pm 8/29/11 I saw a flash through my kitchen window. Almost like a lightening bolt. I then saw smoke by the pole in my backyard which is surrounded by woods. My jaw dropped when I saw a flame on the wire and then the tree. I then called 911. They asked questions like how close was the fire to my home, which was about 80 feet. After I called 911, I contacted my neighbors to let them know about the fire. It took about 10 minutes for the firetruck to arrive. As you can see they really took their time in walking towards the fire. They didn't seem in too much of a hurry. I suppose they see this sort of thing all the time. Viewing the fire, you can see that it would go from flame to just smoke. A wire that went down beside the shed that went unnoticed seemed to aide in causing the problem. Even after the firemen left the tree was still smoking. To this day we still have no electricity. In fact, there is a wait time at the Starbucks to use a power outlet.
