Red carpet glamour at the 2009 Asian Film Awards

Asian film stars and entertainers gathered in Hong Kong once again for the 2009 Asian Film Awards at the Exhibition and Convention Centre. As well as the usual 13 awards to be handed out, the "Outstanding Contribution to Asian Cinema" and the "Edward Yang New Talent" awards were also bestowed.

Also making appearances were Hollywood heavyweights Oliver Stone and William Hurt. Stone was in town to promote his biopic on former US President George Bush in 'Dubya', while Hurt had his 'Yellow Handkerchief'.

The weird thing is - Asian countries all have a longer history than US, in terms of culture. But people in Asian seem to be more open minded in terms of absorbing things from different culture. Whereas US, despite being a relatively new nation with 200 years history, their people seem to be less willingly to learn from other culture.

Take language for example, a lot of Asians today can speak more than at least one language. How many Americans are capable of that?
