Interviewing people "Do you have some favorite thing made in Japan?" and many answered "iwashu". Having long life is advantage but it is rather heavy.
So what is "iwashu"? French read "iwachu" and pronounce as "iwashu". French can't read "Chu"?
It is "Nambu" iron teapot. And Japanese Nambu should be black or brown.
We are not using them these days. So the over hundred years old company in Iwate prefecture tried to sell in abroad at '00. Even though they had high quality of casting technique products failed to sell. One day the mediator says that is there any color variation? People in factory had big laugh to hear that. Because putting colors is out of their mind. Anyway they colored the teapot and succeeded in Europe. Now they get half of sales from exporting.
This traditional Nanbu were recognized by French with changing their mind, style and color.
As it become popular in France now they are selling colored product also in Japan.
I put link of companies but in Japanese.

Here in Paris most popular item Made in Japan seems to be Manga. In the book store they have 6500 books for stock. Everything is same as Japan. Also they have Si-Fi exhibition with over 60,000 attendees. Some people ware “Tabi” instead of shoes. They say wearing Tabi can feel the ground directly as walking in bear foot and very comfortable. Also dog people have Shiba.
