"Hacking" your console is not illegal. What you DO with it afterward might be. Lets say you rent a game, then you make a copy of it. That is illegal. Because you made a copy of a game that you didn't own. But, if the game was yours, then you are entitled to make one backup copy of it. Homebrew is also not illegal has long has there is no copyrighted code/material in it. Type GAMERZCREED in Google to get to a site that has tons of Homebrew and the latest console hacking news available.

And for what do you need homebrew, to hack games like brawl or something or watch dvds or play even games from another consoles or what?

the wii homebrew channel is for downloading virtual console games for free and many other reasons...(they are classified for the F.B.I ONLY) lol
