Home video I recorded 25 years ago this coming summer (2012) at the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo at Dauphin Island, AL. The event, sponsored by the Mobile Jaycees, is now recognized as the largest fishing tournament in the world. The 79th ADSFR is scheduled for the summer of 2012. Back in 1987 (when I shot this) I was working as radio news director for WKRG in Mobile. The video has scenes from the rodeo weigh station site and features various local news media who were covering the event. Brief cameo appearances by Randy Patrick and Scott Hunter of WKRG-TV. The crew of the Ditty VII includes WABB station owner Bernie Dittman, John Patrick Bowler, and special guest Ron Gollnick. Near the end of the video, I handed the camera to Randy Patrick who managed to capture myself and Jim Hall of WKRG on tape. (Jim Hall apparently enjoyed himself so much, he now owns a charter fishing boat and lives on Dauphin Island.) Hope you enjoy.
