I have this figured out. This little girl is not 'reading'...she has memorized the story. The mom is turning the pages before the child gets done reading and the girl is still telling the story.

I'm pretty sure the child has this story memorized. However, that being said, I could read on a similar level at that age, so it is possible. I read Charlotte's Web in kindergarten.

My brothers currently learning to read but we have only just started with him as we didn't want him to lose interest in it before it was necessary (at school) because that's what kids are like if they feel at all pressured (not necessarily meaning forced) but he loves it! And he's doing really well. He has also learnt to write all the letters and numbers&counts well, he adores numbers, started pre-school at 2. Some kids just actually want to push ahead to learn, others aren't so interested.

Do you want your child to read before they start kindergarten? Here is a simple method, but it takes much time. It is a proven strategy and no magic bullet. I have children and by the time each of my daughters entered kindergarten they were reading on a second grade level. Here's the strategy: Print out dolch sight words from the internet K - 3. Choose 10 words at a time and write them on index cards. Drill, drill, and drill. Go over the words. As ur child learns each set of 10, put on wall.

Excellent job! My 4yr old enjoyed listening to her read. Off to get some Pinky Dinky Doo!
My 4yr old is reading at about an early 1st grade level at the moment. We started with Your Baby Can Read about 5 months ago. I wished I had learned about it when she was actually a baby! But even so she has just zoomed through it all and is reading at such an incredible rate now.

Well, my daughter is 3 and a half and she can read 2nd grade ,she can also counts to 100,write all alphabets lower case and capitals , addition and subtraction up to 10. I tried so many times to see if she memorize them but i noticed that she can read everything .everyone gets impressed when they see her reading books .

Very rushed.........she sounds like a little kid that is just rushing through to get done.
I have a 19 month old. Do you think "Your Baby Can Read" will help him read early? How often did you play the videos and use the the learning cards? My four and five year old are reading three and some four letter words. Do you think the videos will help them as well?

The strategy I used was to play the videos 1-2x/day, but no other TV - EVER. This is pretty important since they won't think it's special if they get to watch other TV/videos on a regular basis. Incorporate words everywhere - use your finger to underline words in books. Dr. Titzer recommends the videos for birth-5. I think we were pretty much done by 3 years old, but I think it could theoretically help anyone. My 26 month old knows hundreds of words also - but I haven't been as consistent.

That is an amazing little girl!!! Awesome reading ability at age 4? Is she almost 5? How did she learn to read like this at such a young age? She reads better than many high schoolers I have heard read. Congratulations on whatever you have been doing to teach her....and on the fact that she is a delightful little reader!

Thanks for the positive comments! She just turned 4 and is pretty much self taught. She watched the "Your Baby Can Read" series as a baby (from 9 months to just shy of 2) and started reading sight words around 16 months. I can't take much credit for her reading, aside from providing an ample amount of books and reading opportunities. Thanks again for the nice comment!
