One variant of a leaf spring that has been missed, I believe, is when they're mounted in rollers, or otherwise free to move longitudinally, with a 5/6 link actually locating the axle - the leaves merely providing the spring affect.
Another uses the leaves as the lower longitudinal links for a 5/6 link setup.
As has been said, it depends on the rules and regulations it's running under.
Most of them HAVE to have some sort of leaf springs, in order to comply with regulations. Most drivers use the thinnest leafs of a standard 1100 spring pack, and combine them with adjustable coilovers. Others make them out of nylon, or even make some up out of old safety harnesses or hoisting slings! The leaf springs are still there, but dont have any function whatsoever. And watts linkages arent new, but some regulations dont allow for them.
I cant believe it is running leaf springs. You can get a 6 linked atlas, you ever hear of a WATTs linkage system? Its a different end plate for the diff cover, it has a pivot rocker with 2 arms that go to the left and right chassis legs and then the normal 4 link arms on the front of the axle. Most modern escorts have it.
3 way adjustable shocks is what I meant sorry, such as proflex or AVO.
@Magicman54321 well the vid is all bout him! so we all assume its his car and not mine, but then again i dont run leaf! not that im running down the car! but it wer u that came out 6 way link and 3 way adj! just 2 let ya no atlas is not 6 linked! a semi floating maby! and i just dont understand what exactly what u mean by 3 way adj an a rear atlas???
5 link panhard, 6 link Watt's linkage.

IIRC, the Atlas' use a fully floating axle.
