Goal: Open conversation with Black men on the impact and influence of our sexuality on our health, concerning relationships and communication between Black men and women. Sharing of resources, solutions and leadership in our community working on health and well being for African American men...
Background
BWW clearly understands that the health and well being of Black women is closely interconnected with the lives of Black men. Examining the pattern of sexuality transmitted disease and increasing HIV/AIDS rates in our community gives us a strong clue to our interconnectivity. BWW knows that, only through our community working together, both male and female, will we have any chance of eliminating health disparities that hurt our community.
Black Women for Wellness has sponsored Bring A Brother to Breakfast events during June since 1999, long ago recognizing the influence and impact we have on each other's health and well being. Given the growing health disparities we are incorporating more energy and outreach with Black men in work toward our mission...enhancing the health and well being of Black women, our children, families and community.
Here are a few thoughts to ponder as we approach Bring A Brother to Breakfast
With the onslaught of direct marking by pharmaceuticals to consumers, have Viagra, cialis and other sexual performance enhancements and drugs indirectly increased the growing number of mature and senior African American women impacted by a sexually transmitted disease/infection particularly HIV?
Our hip hop generation have disturbing statistics, what solutions can we offer, how do we off set the media influence toward negative and/or consequential sexual behavior with modeling of couples, communication, commitment and health?
