  • I'm only here for kaya tbh...

  • Oh my god, seriously. Why is the colour of this man's skin such an issue? The books description of Heathcliff wasn't specific; it didn't describe him as white or black. It described him as English. This actor is English. Get over it.

  • Bought the book today (: I can't wait till I can watch the movie. this must be the most beautiful trailer ever made. I hope the movie is just as beautiful.

    Proud of you Effy ;)

  • @thinfulwishing the book says he was english. an ordinary english. at that time, an ordinary english was not a black man. tho, he was a gypsy. but not black man.

  • @nothinglovelyx I don't have anything against this actor since the main point is that Heathcliff is different from the others, but he wasn't black in the book, his skin was darker like a gipsy but still white.

  • This trailer pretty much sums up the whole film. Not enough dialogue, lots of silent brooding stares, no soundtrack, just the noise of the wind the whole time and lots of pointless shots of wildlife. You may as well not bother watching the film at all. I wish I hadn't :P

  • Effy

  • @thinfulwishing In the book he was not English he was gypsy

  • @thinfulwishing It suggests several times throughout the book that his skin was of a darker color than the other characters, contributing to his alienation. I'm not sure about the term "moor" but that might be another clue! But again, you're completely right it doesn't matter and clearly the author didn't think it mattered much either!

  • in book he's a gypsy. So he's white not black.

  • is this a porn parody?

  • His race is never specified, but he is an 'outsider'. He doesn't look like any of the Earnshaws or Lintons, so I think this is a perfectly good casting. I'd love to see it.
