The Cross Joint -
air flow diagram

The ends of the small joint (yellow and green) pull through the ONE small hole.

Then end of the main joint (black) pull through the small gaps above and below the small joint (around the small joint).

The diagram on the left shows the air flow as seen from the mouth piece.

  • i have a question. Will the gaps above and below the small joint be sufficient to allow passage to the big joint's air flow? What if one were to cut another whole in the small joint, right in front of the other whole (like another tunner), allowing the big joint's air to pass right through the small joint, would that work?

  • @TiagoRodrigues88

"...the mass flow rate through a tube is a constant and equal to the product of the density, velocity, and flow area." (NASA, "Corrected Airflow per Area")

Flow volume is directly proportional to flow area. @alienspratley

The most narrow area of the flow path from the main joint should be slightly less than the area of the hole cut in the cross joint. If the hole was cut all the way through the cross joint, then the main joint would burn faster than the cross joint.

    so... no
