I'm feeding baby brine shrimp to my betta fry, I used salt and within the week all my bettas had either died or dissapeared. I'm thinking it's because of the salt in the brine shrimp hatchery, but I'm not sure. I gathered the brine shrimp in a stray and then let it go into the tank. Would it (over time) create too much salt for the babies?

@Anima1over That is hard to say, baby bettas are tolerant of low salt levels and I usually add a small amount of salt into their tank to prevent velvet. It could be the type of salt you are using especially if it is iodized. Marine salt is the best. You can always strain the baby brine shrimp through a coffee filter, paper towel, or piece of cloth prior to feeding in order to eliminate the salt.

Can you just put eggs into aquarium to hatch?or is there any type of eggs you can do this with?

@VIKINGODIN If it was a salt water tank they would hatch but the shells are messy. Also your filters may trap the eggs before they hatch.

@ProWilsonTan are the eggs being aerated? How much time has passed since you put the eggs in and what is the water temperature? What type of salt did you use?
