Think this can't happen to you? My new neighbor's house has a heating system that requires two mechanical devices, a ventilation fan and some sort of exhaust pipe. A decibel meter I bought shows a reading of 50 decibels, sometimes noisier. Low cloud cover and rain can actually deflect the noise making it audible in my house. The City of White Rock, BC approved the design but it's made my life a living hell. Sometimes both fan and pipe are in operation and is clearly audible in my house with doors and windows closed. The northwest corner of his home is bowl-shaped so it acts like a speaker and projects the sound as far as 75 yards or more. The noise is now the rule and not the exception. Sometimes it goes for hours on end. It's interesting that the city has allowed it and even though it's a noise problem, they claim they can't do anything about it. The noise is in conflict with the very noise bylaws the city upholds but they still won't do anything. I've asked that a partial shroud or cover be put over it but they can't force the owner to do it. Took my laptop to my doctor to show him the video, his reaction was "they should put a cover over it". If you go to the White Rock City website and do a search for the word "noise", you get a link that takes you to the World Health Organization which stresses how noise can be unhealthy for you. The fan and pipe start and stop all day and night, 365 days a year. My back sundeck is at times unusable because the noise is so suffocating. It's so funny how city departments can be in conflict with each other. My new neighbor took possession of the property next door 6 days after our mother passed away (two years ago), she and our father built our house in 1959. During construction of his new house his workers constantly trespassed on my and my neighbors property. There was debris constantly thrown on my lawn including beer bottles. His pit bull terrier was always on the loose going to the bathroom on my front lawn. The dog even attacked a neighbor's child. I've got videos of this guy climbing over the back yard fence going into a neighbors yard, illegally driving an ATV down the street and into my driveway.

  • @theredscourge I forgot the noise limits for these appliances is well above 50 db and according to bylaws they can blow that noise anywhere along the point of reception

  • @theredscourge When the windows are closed you have sound amplification because the houses are too close together. They are 7 feet apart. LFN waves travel farther and are harder to get rid of.It sounds like a diesel engine running. When the city officials came they said "oh my it sounds like a diesel engine running"Think about that running all day and night long when you are trying to sleep .

  • @theredscourge I am sorry but you are incorrect.I have the same problem with my neighbors house and the noise from their machinery and ventilation invades my home.It is because of where their builder located the ventilation and also where they put their A/C.The noise is in our bedrooms. The city came and measured the noise and it is 51 decibels inside of my house,,,when it is like this you now have a private nuisance issue and according to the city you can sue !!!!!

  • @brownsugah66 And I am sorry, but obviously the noise is not 50 decibels within the house with the windows closed. 50 decibels of noise inside the house exceeds the legal limit in most jurisdictions, thus something would be able to be done about the issue.

  • no one wants 50 decibels of someone else's noise inside of his/her house with the windows closed... you can not control it and it drives you crazy....All the people complaining about the wind farms giving them 50 decibels inside of their home have all right to complain as low frequency noises are just as harmful as high frequency ones more and more studies are indicating this...

  • @theredscourge Yes posting it on YouTube may not be the answer however people get frustrated by how many people lack the civility in this modern day and age and are deprived of the quiet usage of their home..Using this as an anonymous outlet may be the only relief from the stress they get.... and I did mention other alternatives to this situation in 2 more postings.50 decibels is an interference with the use and enjoyment of the property whether you don't find it loud or not

  • @brownsugah66 i do not see how that disagrees with anything i said. all i know for sure is posting this on youtube is not the proper solution, approaching the neighbours about it, and if a solution cannot be found, take it to the municipality, if they refuse to act, either sue or move.

  • @tom080955 Tom a good neighbor keeps his noise to himself and remembers that every man's home is his castle.Use your property so as not to injure your neighbor.....

  • I would even offer to buy it for them and if that doesn't work try a really good solid fence with no gaps or holes to block it....

  • also when the houses are located quite close together you get a ricocheting effect from the noise and the noise is increased.I hope its not by the bedrooms.....
