@alexfunkii34 Or you can use its parent scale, D Ionian. Janek writes real modal stuff. This one I don't think is any particular tune, just a loop of DMaj, F#m7, Bm7 | Em7, DMaj, A || Really great stuff if you ask me.

@Zombbg4 I guess you can compare it to writing a story. Could you write a story and use words you've never used before in sentences that you've never put together before? It would be really hard to do that. But I hear Janek's playing and I can say no matter in what idiom "That's Janek," just like if I hear Pat Metheny I can definitely tell, "That's Pat." Janek's a very tonal player.

@mikemcgibney Yeah those, and the decending whole tone-type patterns. A lot of others that I'd have to sing or play for u. The thing is when he DOESN'T play his licks the playing kills. If you listen to his stuff you'll hear the same ideas pop up often. They're sick licks though, that's for sure.

Zomb - which ones specifically? I know he seems to dig maj6 and diminished sounds but his playing always sounds fresh to me.
