We've been having fun with the Scalextric Sport Digital (SSD) stuff for a while, but apparently that wasn't fun ENOUGH for my son. He needed loops and banks that go up walls! He was already saving up, but we gave him the Carrera Go!! Batman and Joker set for his birthday. A week later he spent his own money on a track expansion pack and we were able to make this fairly complex layout. Another week later and we had a table made up for his room to hold the track.

The books are temporary, of course. At some point it will have some wood ramps for the overpass section. He has big plans for scenery on this track in a desert theme (hence the base coat of tan paint) but not a lot of "get up and go" to actually do it. I think I'll be using this as practice for techniques I'll use when building the permanent SSD track I'm planning.

Anyway, this video, as you've probably already seen, is me running two laps on each lane. It's a fun race in either direction on either lane. Should be pretty cool once we get some better supports, maybe some more borders, and some scenery in there. :)

  • where did u buy the turnaround

  • This layout is constructed using the Batman/Joker set and Track Expansion set 3 (I think is the number) which came with a bunch of straights and curves. Nothing hard to find or special, really.

  • @n1kingopopfan Ah, Xtrek I've heard of and seen. It's just another micro RC car thing. Nothing wrong with RC racing. It's cool. I have some RC stuff too. Always enjoyed it. What a lot of people don't know about slot racing is that the cars actually DO come out if you're a crap driver. There's much MUCH more to slot racing than simply pulling the trigger and watching the car zoom around the track. I agree that slot racing where you don't have to control the speed of the car is boring.

  • @n1kingopopfan I've never heard of or seen that. Do you have a link to a video I can watch? Sounds interesting. Sorry you don't like slot cars, though if that's the case, why are you watching my slot car videos?

  • the thing right after the starting line when you go sideways is AWESOME!! i have carrera go slot cars too and i never thought of that! i have some cool slot car vids if you want to take a look
