We are thrilled to have Brandon Davis on board as an instructor here at Virtualwoodshed.com. Brandon was born in Galax, Virginia, home of the oldest Fiddlers Convention in the world. At an early age, the Davis family exposed Brandon to lots of music and by age 10 he was learning guitar from his Dad. Brandon started competing in local contests and fiddlers conventions allowing him the chance to perform with master musicians and sharpen his skills. In 1997 Davis competed and won the prestigious Wayne Henderson guitar championship earning him a Henderson guitar. In March of 2005 Brandon won another Henderson guitar by taking top honors at the South Carolina State Guitar Championship in Hartsville, SC. He has since won the Doc Watson guitar competition at Merlefest and has placed in the top three at the National Guitar Championship in Winfield KS on numerous occasions.
